Getting started

What is Jursu?

Jursu is legal practice management software for lawyers, advocates, and law firms. It keeps your cases, clients, court hearings, documents, deadlines, tasks, and invoices in one place on the web and on Android, replacing spreadsheets, paper diaries, and manual court-portal checks.

Who is Jursu for?

Lawyers, advocates, and law firms of any size, from a solo practitioner to a multi-lawyer firm. It handles both litigation (court cases with hearing tracking) and non-litigation work such as advisory, transactional, and general engagements.

How do I create an account?

Go to app.jursu.com, choose Register, and enter your name, email, and a password of at least 8 characters. You'll receive a verification email. If your firm already has an account and an administrator has invited you, use the link in that invitation instead of registering separately.

Do I need to install anything?

Not for the web app: it runs in any modern browser at app.jursu.com with nothing to install. The Android app is a separate install if you want the mobile experience with offline support.

How do I set up my law firm in Jursu?

After your first login, you either create a new firm (in which case you become its administrator and owner) or join an existing firm using an invitation link or code from a firm administrator.

Are the web app and the mobile app the same account?

Yes. One email and password, one set of firms, one set of data. A matter you add on the web shows up on mobile immediately, and anything you change on mobile appears on the web.

Pricing & plans

How much does Jursu cost?

The free plan is $0. Professional and Business plans raise the limits on matters, clients, team members, and document storage. See our pricing page for current rates.

Is the free plan a trial?

No. The free plan requires no credit card. You only enter payment details if you choose to upgrade to a higher plan for larger limits.

What do the paid plans add?

Mostly headroom, not features. Matters, clients, invoices, and templates are unlimited on every plan. Paid plans raise the team-member and document-storage limits. See our pricing page for the current numbers.

What happens when I hit a plan limit?

Jursu blocks that one action (adding a matter, inviting a member) with a message naming exactly which limit you've reached. Nothing else is affected and your existing data is never touched.

Do I need a credit card to try Jursu?

No. You can create an account and use the free plan with no credit card. Payment details are only needed if you decide to upgrade.

Matters & cases

What is a "matter" in Jursu?

A matter is any piece of work you handle for a client: a court case, an advisory engagement, a transaction, or general work. "Matter" is the standard term used across the legal profession. Each matter in Jursu has its own hearings, tasks, notes, expenses, documents, time logs, deadlines, and invoices. See What Is Matter Management? for a full walkthrough.

Is a matter the same as a case?

A court case is one kind of matter. When you create a matter you choose an engagement type (Court Case, Advisory, Transactional, or General), and only Court Case unlocks court and hearing tracking and, later, judgment recording.

Can I use Jursu for non-litigation work?

Yes. Advisory, transactional, and general engagements are first-class matter types. They get the same tasks, notes, expenses, documents, time logs, deadlines, and invoicing as court cases, without the court and hearing fields.

How does Jursu track court hearing dates?

You enter hearing dates on the matter. For matters at a supported court, Jursu also keeps the next hearing date up to date automatically. It emails reminders 1, 3, and 7 days before each hearing to you and any assigned lawyers, and can push hearing dates into Google Calendar. See How to Track Court Hearings So You Never Miss a Date for the full picture.

What if a hearing date changes at the last minute?

If the matter is at a supported court, Jursu updates the hearing date automatically as soon as the court's cause list changes, and re-sends reminders for the new date. For other courts, update the date on the matter yourself and Jursu recalculates the 7/3/1-day reminders from there.

How do I keep track of hearings across multiple courts and cases at once?

Jursu has a firm-wide hearings view showing every upcoming, past, and all hearing across every matter, not just one case at a time, so you can see your whole team's court schedule in one place instead of checking each matter individually.

What's the difference between archiving and deleting a matter?

Archiving hides a matter from your default list and stops its reminders, but it's reversible at any time and still counts toward your plan's total-matters limit. Deleting removes the matter and everything under it (hearings, tasks, notes, expenses, documents); only a Jursu platform administrator can restore a deleted matter, and deleting is the only way to free up a matter slot.

Can I record the outcome or judgment of a case?

Yes. Once a Court Case matter is marked Closed, Decided, or Dismissed, you can record a judgment: outcome (In Favour, Against, Settled, Withdrawn, Transferred, Other), judgment date, order number, deciding judge, and notes. Recorded judgments feed the Judgments report, which includes an overall win-rate figure.

Can I track legal deadlines, not just hearings?

Yes. Every matter has a Deadlines tab for dated legal deadlines with a priority level; overdue deadlines are highlighted, and automation rules can send reminders around them.

Clients & the client portal

Can my clients log in and see their case status?

Optionally. You can give any client a self-service login to a client portal where they see their matter's status and upcoming hearing dates without calling your office. You control which clients get access and can turn it off at any time. See What Is a Client Portal, and Does Your Firm Need One?

If I delete a client, are their matters deleted too?

No. Deleting a client removes the client record but leaves all of their matters intact.

Team & multi-firm

Can I add other lawyers to my firm?

Yes. Firm administrators invite members by email and assign each a role: Admin, Associate, Junior, or Consultant. How many members a firm can have depends on its plan.

Can one lawyer belong to more than one firm?

Yes. A lawyer can belong to several firms at once and switch between them; each firm keeps its own matters, clients, and settings. Leaving a firm removes your access but not the history of your work there.

What happens to team seats if I downgrade my plan?

If a plan change puts a firm over its member limit, Jursu automatically suspends the most recently added members' seats (never the owner's) until capacity frees up. Suspended members aren't removed, and their seats are restored automatically when the firm upgrades again or another member leaves.

Security & data

Is my client data secure and private?

Yes. All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and stored on secure servers with automated daily backups. Passwords are hashed and repeated login attempts are rate-limited. Your matters and clients are visible only to you and the lawyers in your firm, and Jursu never sells data.

Who can see my firm's data?

Only you and the lawyers you have invited to that firm. A client with portal access sees only their own matter. Jursu platform administrators can access data only for support and recovery purposes.

Can I export my data?

You can export any individual matter or client to PDF from the web app. A one-click account-wide export isn't available yet. Contact support at [email protected] if you need a complete copy of your firm's data.

What happens to my data if I stop using Jursu?

You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time from the Data Deletion page. Until then, your data is retained while the account is active.

Does Jursu back up my data?

Yes. The database is backed up automatically every day, and each backup is also copied off-site to separate infrastructure so it survives a full server failure.

Mobile & offline

Is there an iPhone app?

Not yet. Jursu is available on Android and on the web today; an iPhone app is planned. In the meantime the web app works in any phone browser.

What can the mobile app do without internet?

Offline you can view previously loaded matters, clients, hearings, tasks, notes, and expenses, open downloaded documents, and add, edit, or delete matters, clients, notes, tasks, and hearings. Those changes queue locally and sync automatically when you reconnect. Uploading new documents, emailing invoices, and live report generation need a connection. See What to Look for in Mobile Software for Lawyers Working Offline.

Integrations

Does Jursu sync with Google Calendar?

Yes. Connect Google Calendar from the Connectors screen and Jursu pushes your hearing dates into it. Disconnecting offers to also remove the events Jursu created.

Can Jursu send notifications to Slack?

Yes. Connect a Slack workspace and choose a channel to receive firm activity notifications: new matters, hearings, tasks, and more.
